Welcome to Summers @ OBA! We are excited about the interesting selection of classes that are available for your child this summer at Oklahoma Bible Academy.
Summers @ OBA offers a variety of classes in the areas of academics, arts & enrichment for students entering grades K through 12 for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year.
The Summers @ OBA instructors are what make the program so special! The experience and passion that our specialist teachers possess will make each class unforgettable.

7th and 8th Grade Required Summer Reading:
Students will be able to complete the OBA required summer reading book and complete or be close to completing the writing assignment that accompanies the book. It will be a fun environment filled with inquiry. There will be separate classes for 7th and 8th graders, and the book will be included in the class cost. Taught by Lindsay Ash the 7th and 8th grade English teacher at OBA.
Acting 101/Drama
This class will lay the foundation for studying the discipline and art of acting through exercises, games, character study, reading, and memorization. Through voice, speech, movement, and text work, your student will embrace courage and team work. Taught by April Morrow, an accomplished artist with a BFA in Musical Theater, and over 10 years of professional experience in the entertainment industry in both L.A. and NYC.
All Sports Camp
This is a great opportunity for young male and female athletes in 5th-8th grades. They will have the opportunity to learn skills and drills for different sports. Taught by Jason Warnock, a varsity football coach, middle school basketball coach, former FCA director, and has directed local summer sports camps for 8 years.
Beginner Tumbling:
This class will be an introduction to tumbling basics. We will also work on improving the strength and flexibility of each child. The children will improve on their body awareness through different games and exercises. We will progress through rolls, cartwheels, handstands, and more! Taught by Gina Mendenhall, who was a competitive gymnast for 15 years and a gymnastics coach for many years.
Book of the Day, Come Let’s Play!
Come join the fun! We will have a book a day. Come let’s hear stories, sing songs, have a snack, and make a craft to go with the book of the day. Books we will use are Pete the Cat Day, Bear Hunt day, pajama day, and more. Taught by Layne Estabrooks, Pre-K4 teacher at Emmanuel Christian School.
Bread of Life:
Join us to dig deep into the dough and learn some of the most fun and fancy ways to use a simple bread recipe to create some fabulous treats! Taught by Penny Sweet who is excited to pass on her love of cooking and baking to the next generation just like her grandma did for her. She is a cook/baker, teacher, and a homeschooling mother of four.
Comfort Around the World:
Nothing expresses love more than a yummy bowl of buttery mashed potatoes or a warm cup of chicken noodle soup! Or both, served together!!! God has blessed us with so much yummy stuff! Come explore His creation and some of these places with their special treats from around the globe! Maybe you’ll discover, like me, their special treats from another love language. It’s called “comfort food.” Taught by Penny Sweet who is excited to pass on her love of cooking and baking to the next generation just like her grandma did for her. She is a cook/baker, teacher, and a homeschooling mother of four.
Creative Literary Art Works:
Do you need a fun summer outlet for your God-given creative abilities in writing and art or grow your creativity muscles and hang out with friends? Join this class centered around literature and crafts inspired from other countries and cultures. You will work each day to complete a masterpiece of five different compositions illustrated with your own unique artistic creations. This class will assist in foundational comprehension and creative writing skills while introducing or encouraging a participation with various literary works, stylistic techniques. Taught by Eva Chambers, homeschooling mom for many years and current Librarian at Emmanuel Christian School.
Creativity in the Kitchen
Let’s see what we can create using our imaginations and the beautiful food that God has given to us! We will cover the basics of food safety, tool safety, measuring, decorating, and of course learn all about baking desserts and breads! We will definitely have fun voting on our favorites! Taught by Penny Sweet who is excited to pass on her love of cooking and baking to the next generation just like her grandma did for her. She is a cook/baker, teacher, and a homeschooling mother of four.
Early Elementary Artists:
Students will create original works of art using several types of art media. Students will use clay, paint, draw, and design sculpture! Taught by Gina Menasco who has an art education degree.
Elementary/Intermediate Mixed-Media Art:
Students will create various unique works of art using clay, acrylic paint, watercolor, wire, plaster, and several other forms of art media. Taught by Gina Menasco who has an art education degree.
Fun with Numbers
This class is a great way to learn and review numbers and develop math skills through movement, literature, manipulative, fine-motor skills, and creative play and snacking! Taught by Eva Chambers, homeschooling mom for many years and current Librarian at Emmanuel Christian School.
Hands-on Alphabet Fun:
This class will help young learners stay excited about the alphabet while making messy, fun memories this summer. This class will incorporate ABC art and manipulative centers which focus on equipping students with review and development opportunities in fine motor skills, formation of letters, letter recognition, and phonetic awareness. Taught by Eva Chambers, homeschooling mom for many years and current Librarian at Emmanuel Christian School.
Holidays in June:
Come have a fun-filled week learning, exploring a different holiday every day of the week. We will dive into traditions and learn a little bit of the history that surrounds each holiday. Each day we will make a craft, read stories, have snacks, and play games for each of the following holidays – Valentine’s Day, Easter, Christmas, St. Patrick’s Day, and Thanksgiving.
I Made THAT!!! (DYI Food Stuffs)
In this DYI class, we will tackle typical store bought foods we tend to buy without realizing we can actually make it at home ourselves. We will make as many of these things as we can: like butter, yogurt, crackers, cereal, pasta, bread, cake mixes, mayo, jelly, pizza, and cheese too. Taught by Penny Sweet who is excited to pass on her love of cooking and baking to the next generation just like her grandma did for her. She is a cook/baker, teacher, and a homeschooling mother of four.
Improv:
This improv class will be theatrical, daring, exciting, fun, and educational. We will play games where you learn to listen and teach techniques where you learn to build each other up. This is a boundless class of creativity where there is no right and there is no wrong. Improv is a form of live theatre in which the plot, characters and dialogue of a game, scene, or story are made up in the moment. Taught by April Morrow, an accomplished artist with a BFA in Musical Theater, over 10 years of experience on the improv scene in Los Angeles, and has over 8 years of teaching experience.
Junkyard Wars:
Do you have what it takes to turn bottles and toothpicks into towers and bridges? If so, then you’re ready for the junkyard wars. We will challenge you to solve unique problems by transforming everyday objects into something extraordinary. Learn how to solve problems using math, science, and careful troubleshooting. You’ll never look at cardboard and duct tape the same way! Taught by Kristina Morgan Pasby, 1st grade teacher at Chisholm Elementary School.
Little Movers
Let’s get kids moving. We are taking it old school. It is time this summer to get kids running, playing, exercising, competing, and having fun. The goal of this camp is getting kids moving and having fun. Let’s grab some athletic shoes and get moving. Taught by Jason Warnock, a varsity football coach, middle school basketball coach, former FCA director, and has directed local summer sports camps for 8 years.
Mad Scientist:
Have fun learning in this hands-on science class! Perform wacky science experiments and activities while we learn about the Scientific Method. It’s spectacular science fun! The experiments will be different from the ones completed last summer. Taught by Kristina Morgan Pasby, 1st grade teacher at Chisholm Elementary School.
Mastering Middle-School:
Are you academically prepared for middle-school? Do you know what you need to know? Do you need a summer refresher? This interesting class will help prepare you for sixth grade and the expectations that come along with it. Taught by Sumer Warnock, 6th grade teacher at OBA.
Under the Sea:
This camp will combine reading and science as well as fun activities about some of the most amazing creatures of the sea. Each day we will practice non-fiction reading skills and do hands-on activities about a different ocean animal. Taught by Eva Chambers, homeschooling mom for many years and current Librarian at Emmanuel Christian School.
