Dear Freshmen,
High school. It’s the time of your life that you have been idolizing for so long! And now it’s here and almost Thanksgiving. High school is a point in your lives where you can gain independence: later curfews, driving with friends, lots of late nights with fun projects. But high school is not like the movies; there is homework, and no one breaks into song on the front lawn. You are going to go through challenging times. Your friends may back away and do different things. You may not be very good at sports and feel left out. You may like different clothes than others around you and feel very different.
High school is about finding out who you are, about challenging yourself, about finding those friends who will be true. Everything is going to seem so crucial and important, but I promise you, no one is going to remember the time you didn’t look “super cute” or the time you dropped the pass at the last game of the season. So relax. Allow yourself to make some mistakes. Don’t worry about everyone else’s opinions. Do what you feel is the right thing to do for the valuable moments, the lasting moments. Let everything else, the small details, fade away.
Sincerely,
A Sophomore 🙂
