Trojan Athletics Dominated in Fall 2019
It was an exciting season for OBA athletics, with volleyball and boys cross country competing at the state level.
Fastpitch
High School Fastpitch Softball closed out the season with a 13-12 record. The Lady Trojans had five players selected for All-Conference: Taylor Goodwin, Devan Hawk, Rian Titus, Cooper Cayot, and Leah Titus were all selected. The girls all played in the All-Conference game at Ringwood.
The Middle School girls played a good season, finishing out 2-2. The team was very young and had a lot of games cancelled due to weather, but played well and improved over the season!
Volleyball
The OBA Volleyball team had a banner season. After winning Regionals, the team placed Runner-Up at the State Tournament! It was the team’s first appearance at the State Tournament since 2015. The High School team included five seniors: Ashlyn, Bekah, Molly, Bronte and Julia. They closed out the season with a 26-10 record.
The Middle School team finished up the season 11-2. They were a very strong team and fun to coach and watch play.
A big congratulations to Ashlyn Orr, who was selected to the Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State Team, and to Coach Roth, who was named Region 1 Coach of the Year!
Football
The High School football team finished the season in mid-November at the State Playoffs. It was the first time in five years that the team has competed in the playoffs. This year’s team battled through several weeks of adversity, but kept their goal of being in the playoffs alive through it all!
The Middle School Football team closed out the season with a record of 5-3. The boys played hard and worked well together as a team, beating out pre-season expectations.
Cross Country
The Boys XC team qualified for State with a 7th place finish at Regionals. They closed out the season placing 18th overall at the State Championship event. Sophomore Matthew Smith placed 13th at the State 5k course with a personal best time. Smith placed 3rd at the regional meet. Other Regional runners who placed included: Junior Nick Hawk place 17th , followed by Blaine Berdgdall 59th, John Pethoud 69th, Nic Smith 74th, Luke Wells 84th and Sam Buller 85th.
The girls XC team also had a great season, placing 8th at the Regional meet. The team was led by senior Macy Courter, who placed 35th at Regionals. Other team members who placed include Tadelech Short 52nd, Piper Downing 54th, Madeline Kirtley 59th, Leah Chambers 66th, Molly Bryun 74th, and Grace Lohman 79th.
