In listening and digesting the message taught yesterday in chapel, the main theme that stuck out to me was the importance of our relationship with God. I think that concept struck me the most because going to OBA, having Bible class every day, and being consistently surrounded by people we believe to be Christians makes us assume we are in a relationship with God. But for some of us, we are just “borrowing” our faith. Abe (the speaker) pointed out that it is our responsibility to make sure we have a real relationship with Christ. This directly relates to my History class right now in that we are learning “why we believe the Bible?” Being a senior and knowing I’m going to be facing non-Christians next year drives me to make sure my relationship with God is true; I want to be able to back my beliefs with the Bible. Relating Abe’s message to our verse for the year, 1 Peter 2:9, once we have affirmed our relationship with Him, we can be sure of being “…a people for His own possession…”
