Going through your whole life thinking you know Christ, then on the day of your death hearing Jesus Himself say He doesn’t know you is a scary thought. This was one of the main themes of chapel Monday.
Do you have a relationship with Christ, or do you just eat with Him and listen to Him teach — not really listening — just being there?
Luke 13:23-30 is the text that teaches about the understanding that many people really will get into Heaven. Yet, there are many that will be turned away — rejected — because they never accepted Jesus as Savior. Another group of verses we looked at was Roman 7:15-25. Paul talks about his urge to do good but being unable to. He says, “Now if I do what I do not want, I agree with the law, that it is good.” Paul is saying he knows the law of God and what is good but still is sinning knowing that it is wrong. Our nature is to sin and keep sinning. However, being brought into the light and being a part of a “royal priesthood” as Peter says gives us a different urge to follow God’s law and have a relationship with Him. Even though we still stumble and fall, we are sealed in Christ by His love and sacrifice for us.
